On behalf of the National Aboriginal Lands Managers Association (NALMA), we would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who participated in the NALMA 2026 Workforce Survey.

A total of 180 participants from First Nations across the country completed the survey. Your participation provides valuable insight into the current realities of the lands workforce and helps ensure that the voices and experiences of land managers are reflected in future workforce planning, program development, and policy discussions.

Preliminary analysis of the results highlighted a committed and capable lands workforce supporting increasingly complex responsibilities related to governance, environmental stewardship, and land administration within First Nation communities. At the same time, responses highlighted ongoing challenges in funding stability, staffing capacity, technical specialization, and program alignment. These insights will help inform NALMA’s ongoing work to support and strengthen land management capacity across First Nations.
