The Environment Unit at NALMA focuses on providing support and resources to First Nations, specifically in the area of environmental management. This includes developing new tools and providing training for those responsible for managing environment issues on reserve lands and traditional territories.

They also monitor amendments and legislation related to First Nation reserve lands, collaborate with government partners to promote sound environmental practices, and provide access to expertise and networking opportunities for those working in the First Nation environmental sector. They also support First Nations through their services such as environmental training, advisory support, referrals, and identifying environmental focused funding opportunities.
