This workshop is only available to Planning and Land Administrators of Nunavut or the Hamlet’s lands portfolio holder.
The workshop will provide foundational training in planning and lands administration with a focus on skill building to enable Municipal Staff to confidently lead and facilitate public hearings and community meetings. In addition, the workshop will include a focus on implementing new tools to address the housing crisis in Nunavut and ways in which Municipal staff can support housing development across the Territory.

- Overview of a Hamlet’s planning and lands responsibilities
- How to regulate development (using your Zoning Bylaw)
- Land Administration By-law 101, New Leases and Expired
Leases - The Art of Hosting a Public Hearing and Community Meetings
- Maintaining a supply of available land and good records
- Best Practices for the Housing Accelerator Fund – sharing
wins from your community - Opportunities and constraints on housing – ensuring a supply
of gravel, turning vacant houses into leasable lots for new
housing - Development Permits and Tracking Development
